Great
Movies Date
Ever wonder what would be a good (and economical)
way to spend together, far from the hustle and bustle of
crowds during weekends? Rent a few good movies; get some
tortilla chips and red wine for a wonderful evening
We love to decipher meanings in things. From love horoscopes
to the cars our men liked, we are constantly trying to understand
the subconscious mind since men are wired to speak in monosyllable
and offer little information about themselves.
To satisfy women who loved to decipher your thoughts and
you, in turn, hope to have a date that there is not much
conversation, it would be a good choice to have some movies
standby for such occasions. DVDs would be great!
For a quiet evening to something more intentional, here
is a list of movies to make your move:
1. Mr Deeds
Remember the scene when Adam Sandler gave a self-made card
to Winona Ryder? Women love to hear things about them and
you would make a great impression by penning out a few liners
of your thoughts. Point to note is originality. It does
not have to be flowery but it has to be sincere.
Good if you are intending to ask her to go “steady”.
2. Before Sunset
Get this if you are dating an intellectual with fondness
for good dialogue. Please do not attempt if you can doze
off to non-action movies. The purpose is to show your sensitive
side, not your inability to listen. This is less than two
hours and it is alright if you did not watch “Before Sunrise”
earlier.
3. Wedding Singer Good if you do not have “a song”. Though
I have heard one too many during weddings, the song “Grow
Old with You” is easy to pick up and does not require great
vocals. It’ll be terrific if you can strum the guitar.
It can backfired if you are thinking of a cheap proposal!
4. Dirty Dancing
I know friends who loved dancing watched this classic countless
time. The fight for true love has been the classic theme
and it is no wonder even “Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith”
has referred to “Titanic” to ensure its expected box office
status. It features a great soundtrack as well. Have a listen
to “Hungry Eyes” by Eric Carmen but you can refrain from
singing.
5. Love me if you dare / Jeux d’enfants
For those who love foreign movies. This is a refreshing
and quirky movie that shows two people in love but do not
know how to express their feelings. Perhaps it is the language
of love that makes French so beguiling
6. 9 & half weeks
If you are thinking of a prelude to a sensual evening, check
out the food tasting scene. It is sensual, kinky and about
giving up self-control. Check out Byran Ferry’s “Slave to
Love”. Though the ending is sad, I figure things may get
heat up halfway through the movie. You can develop your
own ending later!
7. Family Man
This movie is all about “what if” and the choices we make
in our lives. Nicolas Cage showed intensity when he was
trying to make Téa Leoni stay to give themselves a second
chance. Women do spend considerable amount of time to think
and discuss with girlfriends on the “what ifs” in their
relationships. Try this if you are hopping to go to the
next level, like being committed to her!
Hope you are inspired to plan for your next memorable movie
date! A friendly note of caution, please stay away from
Titanic unless she is a big fan. It is overrated, extremely
unhealthy for the bladder and too expected. Now you want
her to see you as unique, not boring right?
