When & Where to Kiss

A simple answer actually, it's all about right timing and situation. Yeah, I know it's hard to determine that as there are different timing and different situation where you can get your first kiss. It's not always the same and but it's not always different either. And yes, the above statement is self-contradictory but it is the fact, everything is contradictory by nature in the first place.

Kiss or be kissed, especially for the very first time, the former requires one to be attentive to the body language of one's partner while the latter requires more patience. The difference ends there, to get the first kiss here are the guidelines to follow.

Being presentable looking plays an important role in your first lips-locking. However, I do not mean that one must be drop-dead gorgeous to qualify for the smooches, Kissing is a sensory experience influenced by sight, sound and smell. The human brain operates in multiple modes, and receives multiple signals from the environment around us. These inputs create an image in our minds about the kind of person we meet and formulate an appropriate response towards these inputs. Thus, to increase the chances of getting the first kiss, one should take care of how one looks, sound and smell towards the other person.

The environment is vital, as the saying goes, the right place at the right time, thus the need to create a setting for that first kiss. That first kiss between the couple is very personal and it is advisable to find an environment that is somewhat private, to make it of greater comfort for both parties.

Timing for the execution would be the most important factor. If all criteria mentioned above fall into place but the timing is inappropriate, all would be in vain. One can't create the right time, but one can seize the opportunity when it presents itself.

Here are a few examples:

Simon (on his first kiss with his wife): "I didn't plan for this first kiss. One evening, we sat at the stone steps of Padang to chill out after night class. She was leaning on my shoulder, and we were enjoying the peace of the night and I felt the moment was right to kiss her... It was a magical moment for both of us, up till now. We can still remember it vividly."

John (on his first kiss with his girlfriend): "I planned it for a long time. I took extra efforts to find the suitable place to kiss her. It was at her doorstep after a lovely dinner and movie. When I reached her doorstep, she turned around and we kissed."

As you can see, Appearance, Environment, Timing, these are just a general classifications that I have come out with. It is by no means a hard and fast rule that will ensure a hundred percent guarantee for the first kiss, but it does help increase the possibility. Have fun!
